It's Summertime And Life Is Busy

I admit, I have always had a hard time with change. Especially the change of seasons with which come changes in schedules, wardrobes, diets, etc., (do I have to reorg the closets 4 times a year??) I am having a hard time keeping up. Schedules overlap. Summertime begins with this slight feeling of being rushed, which slowly turns into fun!

As a full-time Mom to 2 small kids and working from home, my time management skills measure exactly 8 1/2 X 11. That's about as wide as the hybrid Google calendar that I print out, stick on a cork board, and tape on the fridge:-) But hey, it works, and it keeps me organized all day.

So anyway, busy, busy...it's summertime and we are off to a good start. Here's what we have been up to, in pictures, this summer.

We concluded springtime with our summer Suzuki piano recital with Dr. Carolyn Barrett.
Ian played "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" (somebody needs to tell Sara Jade to stay in her seat while mommy sets Ian up for his performance:-) Sara Jade worked real hard on getting that "E Song" perfect for her first violin recital. Here she is with that perfect bow hold which she worked on for nine months (!) during her first Suzuki violin recital with Dr. Carolyn Barrett. With music recital being over, swim team season starts. Practices are every morning at 8 a.m., and swim meets are Saturdays and Mondays! Try waking them both up for the practice:-) Both kids are in the swim team - Go Foxes!!

This is the year of glory for Ian who has been an exceptional swimmer this year. I will not be surprised if he gets yet another "8 & under backstroke wonder" trophy this year. And boy, did I learn that it's not my kids who are competitive - it's me! And I don't even swim! :-) LOL. Here comes Ian - go break a leg, Ian!
Sara Jade keeps herself entertained while Swim meet goes on for 4 hours....

This is a big year for Sara Jade. It's her first swim team year. This is also the year that she reads independently. She takes a break from swimming and reads EVERYTHING on the walls, fences and T shirts...
The best thing about summers at "Camp Mommy and Daddy" is that that they spend a lot of time TOGETHER. "Go find something to do, mom and dad are busy." :-)
...and take frequent trips to the concesion stand for more sugary food....that's enough sugar!

...while Mom and Dad work the meets. Get back to work, Dad! :-)

..walking home from the pool on a rainy swim meet day (hey, those boots were meant for swimming:-), we were all thinking, "This is going to be one real awesome summer! "
